What approvals are required for a Co-packer?
We are thinking of using a co-packer for our company. what should we require from the co-packer? aside from them being SQF certified. They are SQF certified already.
In my experience working with co-packers, you want to make sure they meet all of your company standards. HACCP plan, Quality system employee training, etc. They are an extension of your operation and need to follow what every standard you have in place. Your standard will include not only GFSI requirements but regulatory and customer requirements. You also want to include them in your internal auditing schedule.
Under SQF = co packer?or contract manufacturer? There is a difference, which one are you talking about?
co-packer
A contract supplier would be where for all intents and purposes the product appears to come from your company - lanel, address etc on the packaging.
It is the contract supplier thst is required to follow everything you do.
Since they are SQF certified that is great now they just need to be in line with your approved supplier program.
Hello all,
I am in a situation where our customer purchases our product in clear packaging coded with lot number only.
The customer then sends it to be packed in our packaging with our logo on it and then puts it into their finished product.
Would this be considered a Contract Supplier?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
