Product Release 2.4.7, procedure if we do not manufacture only store?

Hello,

We are a warehouse and distribution facility working on our SQF Certification. I am struggling with code 2.4.7 Product Release. We do not manufacture any products we receive in finished goods and ship out finished goods. (3PL Warehouse) Because of this we don't have a release policy. Is it ok to say all products which arrive at our facility are quality released as long as product stays within temperature we do not put on hold?

Any help would be appreciated!

IMO:  your pre-shipment inspection of the products can be considered as your product release.

As you said, your Product on Hold (for non-conforming -damaged/recalled/non-marketable product) policy can support this release policy.

What does your "Quality Release" document say on it?

My opinion: Prior to shipping inspections (all cases are in good shape,), also inspecting your trucks that will deliver the product, shipping documents (making sure the destination is confirmed, quantities, lot#s...etc).

Do you have criteria for accepting products into facility? and specifications for holding them & loading into trucks?

If yes, then the checks made before loading products on trucks would be your "product release" .

If no, then you would probably need to start doing some inspections on trucks & products conditions before shipping them out, it would help you have less complaint in case products reach the customer in "Bad Quality, you'd be able to rule damaged products out instead of shipping them anyway.

Thank you! Reading everyone's comments helps to make more sense of the code. We have inspections that we complete at the inbound receiving and tag and segregate any damages/unacceptable product. After an order is pulled the pallets are looked over to confirm nothing is damaged before loading. I just thought I needed another policy to "Release".

Thanks again!
