VA or Database ?

VA depends on yr Product type and FS Standard ????

IIRC, the only semi-useful, free databases are at the trello and RASFF websites.

Neither are  probably comparable to scope of the paid ones.

Hi Mr Charles,

My company are in the progress to upgrade to FSSC22000 ver 4.1. This is our first time to do vulnerability assessment for raw material used in beverage whitener.

Hope to get more info related to food fraud database.

Regarding VA, see this post for some fssc22000 guidance plus there is a possibly useful VA procedure at the first sublink (credit chris@crepecuisine) -

Hi there,

You can use RASFF portal. Enter "food" in Type, "adulteration/fraud" in Category (Hazard) and in Product, chose the product you are interested in.

You have also this link: https://trello.com/b...isk-information

Hope this helps.

Just be aware that the scope of RASFF is inherently limited, as it's original intent was to provide communication/notification between food businesses and regulators in the EU. Personally I'd want a wider dataset of potential cases - I can think of at least one ingredient in our VA where there has been a reported case of adulteration in the US, but not in the EU.

Hi all,

thanks for your advice.

Hi Mr pHruit,

can you give more example / link where can i find those info?

The paid databases are on option - certainly I used the original incarnation of the USP one extensively when setting our system up initially, although it was free in those days.

If you're members of any industry bodies or associations then it's worth reaching out to them, as they are likely to have some relevant information about your product/ingredient types.

Definitely look through RASFF too - it may be a little limited but it's certainly a good start.
I don't think there is much to lose from spending a good while searching google for hits on each specific ingredient - I certainly found some interesting things this way.
Probably need to accept that getting the initial setting-up done can take a substantial investment of time, but we certainly found it useful.

Hello,

What web site can I sign up for for meat/ poultry manufacturing facility?

Thank you,

the only fraud (outside of England---neiggggghhh)  would be passing of regular meat for "specialty"

Water chilled for air chilled

Free From for regular feed

Free Run/range birds for traditionally housed

Thawed as fresh

Do not know of a website that will cover meat specifically, but I'm sure you can come up with a plan that mitigates the above

Google is a wealth of info on fraud in meat
