Dear All,

     Hope all are doing well,

During an audit we faced a question that " How can we assure tat lacquers applied Food packaging cans are suitable for acidic food products packaging?"  can anyone help me is there any reference standard/study method available to justify this. Our product is Tomato Paste having 4.3-4.5 pH range.

Thanks well in advance..

I assume you are talking about the lacquer that is applied inside the can to prevent corrosion of the metal.

The supplier of the cans should be able to give you a safe pH range for the package.

If they can't, knowing what kind of lacquer it is should help you find out on the internet.

You can also test it if you have the budget or the time

Hi,

     Thanks for the reply..

Dear Prabindas.K,

they shall comply with UE 10/2011:

https://eur-lex.euro...ELEX:32011R0010

The internal lacquering could be a polyesther, gold epoxy....etc---> plastics

best regards

Leila
