IFS: traceability and rework requirement 4.18.6

Dear colleagues,

In IFS in the chapter considering traceability it says:  Where goods are labelled at a later time, the temporarily stored goods shall have been provided with a specific lot labelling. The shelf life (e.g. best before date) of the labelled goods shall be calculated from the original production batch.

Does this mean that the shelf life date has to be defined based on the date which rework would get? Or do I mix something now, has this anything to do with rework and adding rework in an another batch?

Thank you so much in advance!

Viivi

Dear Viivi,

Rework is different.  the Clause which says " Where goods are labelled at a later time, the temporarily stored goods shall have been provided with a specific lot labelling. The shelf life (e.g. best before date) of the labelled goods shall be calculated from the original production batch" which means some companies will produce the product and they wont do labeling immediately, but label them after few days, in such cases the lot should be identified with all the details like batch no., Mfg date, Best before etc.. and while labeling and final packing code the product with original mfg date and best before date etc.

Thank you very much for the clarification!
