Is an overflow warehouse a multi-site license?
Hello all,
We need to add a warehouse to our SQF certification. Is this a multi-site license? It would be for the storage of raw materials and finished goods.
Does the kitting of closed packaged goods constitute a "production". The act of kitting and fulfillment are similar in that the integrity of the closed packaging is never compromised.
Please provide your opinion and knowledge and thank you
PD
Plastic Ducky,
Would the warehouse be on the same premises? If so, I would assume that you would need to have it on your food safety plan and include the area with internal audits and such as you would your production area, so that it would not pose a threat for contamination.
But hopefully someone else can provide you better feedback and more insight on the topic.
Hey,
This over-flow warehouse is not on the premises. It is a mile down the road.

If it is included in the food safety plan and is included in your 3rd party audit, there should be no issues.
2. Putting kits together could fall under production... more like a packaging step.
3. Is the off site warehouse shared, di you own all od it... or is it an independent operation/DC.
This is relevant to my interests as well.
I just started at a new company Monday (woo!). We currently receive and batch ingredients in the same building that production is run, and product is shipped from. Product is cooked tortillas; flour and corn.
In two weeks, we will be moving all initial raw material receiving, finished goods distribution, and ingredient batching to a new warehouse/distribution facility approximately one mile away. The ingredients will then be transported to this facility as-needed.
They had their SQF audit at the end of May, and require a surveillance audit at the beginning of December (CB just emailed with proposed dates yesterday afternoon). How exactly will this be handled from an auditing standpoint?
Congrats Marshenko,
Who owns/controls the other facility?

We do. All of the applicable food safety and quality policies/procedures/PRPs currently in place here will transfer to that site as well; I will be FSQA Manager in charge of overseeing both.

Probably not multi-site unless you have over 20 sub-sites. It's a different type of certification with 6 month surveillance audits:

Ahh, indeed.
It is actually on page 116 of 8.1 now :)
