Hazard analysis and assessment of associated risks - IFS Broker 5.6
Hi everyone,
can anyone help how to perform the hazard analysis and assessment of associated risks for a non-conforming product?
We are struggeling with the practicallity of a classic risk analysis (probability and severity), especially with the probability.
Thanks for your help!
Felix
Why not just use the severity alone?
You already know the probability - if the product is nonconforming then the issue has happened, so the likelihood of occurrence is 100% ;)
Your severity is then simply an assessment of the potential significance of the risks associated with the incident - e.g. allergen contamination would likely be a high risk, vs. e.g. a drum of product has a dent in it but is not otherwise compromised would be a low food safety risk.
You'd need to consider and potentially define these appropriately for your product types, of course.
Thanks pHruit. Very practical suggestion!

Hi Felix,
More details would help..
Finished Retail Product ? Nonconforming due to ? eg Radioactive ?
IMO a (traditional) hazard analysis, per se, is indeterminate in the context of yr question, ie there is no process.
If a food ingredient, any "risk" may relate to the specific nonconformity and the intended usage.
If "Risk" relates to safety, the answer may presumably vary from non-existent to draconian.
PS - afaik, by convention, traditional hazard analyses are predictive, not retrospective. It's a question of Classic vs Posterior Probability
