Facility audits as internal audits

Have any of you tried to use another audit (like organic) as your internal audit?  Seems like I remember somewhere someone suggesting this.

Wouldn't that be considered an external audit?  I think having an additional external audit would look better than an extra internal audit.

An internal audit is an internal audit done by facility personnel at the facility that is doing the internal audit.  No games, just plain old internal auditing.
