Internal Audits for BRC 8
Hello everyone,
My name is Ramiro and I am a compliance manager for a tree nut company.
I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on Internal Audits for BRC Issue 8.
Do I created a simple table for each section on the standard that I am going to audit and can it be as as simple as yes/no we are meeting the standard.
Does anyone have a template I can see.
I have to make up a schedule for when and what section I am going to audit. Can I just say " September I am going to do an internal audit on Section 1 of the Standard" or do I have to break them down?
I appreciate any help.
Regards,
Ramiro Torres
Hi Ramiro
Internal audits should be done thoroughly if the quality system is to contribute to business success.
To achieve this you should develop and implement a detailed internal audit schedule covering all elements of the BRC Issue 8 subject to auditing at least once in a year.
To ensure effective internal auditing it is wise to break down each section which you are going to audit as per schedule.
The aim should be to enhance business performance rather than just get the certification

Hi Ramiro,

Hi Ramiro,
BRC Internal audits are based on risk.
If you have already in place an internal QMS then you need to be auditing against your own internal policies/procedures.
For example: If you have a CCP (Critical Control Point) then the area that you have this would be best to be audited a minimum of twice in a year.
Senior Management commitment once a year, Calibration twice a year. Complaints once a year.
I have attached an example, I do hope this helps

Hi P-J,
Seem to have missed Allergens, Prerequisites . Etc ?
Also includes "Internal Audit" ?
Thanks anyway.
Of course Charles the additional you mention would be included, I was just giving an example.
Overall A BRCGS Auditor will want to see that you are auditing against internal processes and not those against the standard clauses ( Internal processes should be covering these, BRCGS Clauses)

It's important to say "Yes / No" isn't enough. You need to include evidence of compliance or non compliance, e.g. what you saw, photos etc. It needs to be thorough.
