Does the desk audit score go against your final audit score?

Hello everyone!

I feel this topic is probably redundant and "common sense" seeing as it states the answer in the code and I have read this on the forum as well ...BUT, I recently spoke to our SQF Consultant, and now I am second guessing this component.

My consultant told me that the desk audit is scored....the score you get from your desk audit goes against your final score following your site audit.

For example, if on the desk audit I got 5NC and the site audit I got another 5NC then my final mark would be 90.

I have read the Edition 8 manual numerous times and it clearly states (section 2.6 & 3.3) "Desk audits are not scored". Am I missing something or is my consultant misinformed?

PS. I know many of you may be thinking "well regardless if it is scored or not you want to do well on both". Yes of course, but it is still a big discrepancy between code and consultant if I am correct... :yeahrite:

Thank you!

Mark

I am an SQF Consultant.

Yes I thought so, I am confused as to why my consultant would think this. I tried to explain to her but she insisted it was marked... Strange.

incompetence comes to mind.

Mark make sure your consultant is a SQF certified consultant as I am, you can find his name in this list:

Yes.. surprisingly our consultant is hired by NSF and is an SQF Trainer.

I am relieved that my initial thought about the desk audit not being marked is correct.. but not relieved that our consultant gave us incorrect information.

Thank you guys for verifying this for me.

Similar to what SQFConsultant recently stated in another post:  Auditors (as well as consultants) may make mistakes in interpretation.  It is up to you to make sure you understand the SQF requirements.  This is an ongoing process.
