Hello,

Is there any mechanism to remove the stone/ sand related impurities from raw pulses/ lentils apart from normal sorting/ screening.

Regards,

Hi Baskaran

The short answer is yes there are many options available for removing stones from fruits and other crops such as rice, though screening is still the cheapest options

Following are other options

1. X-rays

2. Destoning magnet systems

3. destoner machine

You can search the internet for getting more information on the above methods

It's possible to do a "winnowing" process where air is blown up through the lentils and heavier contaminants would not be blown up.  It's not infallible though and may mean designing your own kit.  If the density is different enough, x-ray is probably the best option.

X-ray systems using material discrimination/ dual energy x-ray technology can be a good solution
