Risk of Packaging Materials and Finished Product using the same door?

Hi Everyone,

My company is trying to apply for HACCP certification & the concern I have right now is our entrance for packaging material into the packing area.

Currently, packaging materials are being brought inside the packing area using the same door for finish product to go to the loading bay. Since the packaging material store is outside the processing area, I'm worried it will cause cross contamination.

Are there any suggestions on how to minimize the risk? Should i enforce a specific time for the packaging material to go through the door? Example, the packaging material can only go through during the start of the first shift only.

Hope anyone can give their suggestions.

Thanks,

Hafiz

Hello Hafiz.

I had the same challenge when i was implementing my System as well since i use the same door to receive and dispatch goods.

How i work it out is:

  1. Make sure the two activities are not done at the same time.
  2. Work with your suppliers on how goods are packaged on delivery.
  3. Make sure goods being dispatched are well packaged to avoid them being exposed to any kind of contamination.
  4. Encourage hand washing after every exercise.
  5. Keep the dispatch/receiving clean at all times.

Hope this will help in building your system.

Regards

Hi John,

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try implement as suggested.

What certification do you have? Will this be okay with certification body?

Thank you.
