What is PDCAA testing and which labs in the UK do it?
Hello team,
we have been asked for PDCAA Testing by USA customer for our energy bars.
What is this PDCAA testing and which labs in UK does this.
I have contacted Camden bri and they do not test for this.
Any help
thanks
A quick google search shows that it's a protein digestibility assay of some kind, and will also show several labs that do it. Try an international lab group like FSNS or MXNS, they likely have a local lab. https://www.merieuxn...ety-and-quality
Hi, Thanks for this.
I need to test my product for this test.Does any labs in UK do this test.
Regards
I've used Reading Scientific Services (https://www.rssl.com/) set up bespoke methods where I haven't been able to find them offered as a standard test by any of the commercial labs.
I'm a little surprised by Campden's response, as I've also done work with them that involved setting up a method specifically for our requirements, so it might also be worth asking them if it's something that they can do.
I couldn't see it listed on the Eurofins or ALS sites but worth giving them a call/email too, given the scale of their facilities in the UK.
Hi, Thanks.
I have checked with Eurofins and ALs, INtertek who doesnt offer this test.
Is there any specific name for the test. I am asking PDCAA - Protein digestibility corrected amino acid.
Thanks

It might be described as PDCAAS (protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score) but that shouldn't make a difference to your enquiries. I think the main challenge is that it isn't a common test so likely not set up by many of the commercial labs, hence people like RSSL/Campden perhaps being the most likely options.
Starting to understand - from SQFConsultants article....
There are some drawbacks when using the PDCAAS method, including:
- The long turnaround time for results: 2-3 months.
- The average cost per test.
- The common reliance on rats as test subjects, which raises ethical concerns for some food manufacturers and concerns over whether a rat’s digestive system reflects that of a human’s correctly.
Hello Everyone,
Is there any lab in UK would do the test for PDCAA.
I have checked with CAMDEN BRI, EUROFINS,INTERTEK,RSSL and ALS who does not offer this test.
Any suggestion which lab can offer this test.
