Is Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) really a sanitizing operation? In other words, should it be written up as a Sanitizing Standard Operating Procedure (an SSOP)?

I wrote it as an SOP, before I knew about SSOPs. An auditor kindly told me it would be an SSOP since it is a cleaning operation.
