Does anyone know what is a BRC start (basic/intermediate) program and how different is it from SALSA?

Has BRC START got a better food safety system than SALSA or the same?

Thanks in advance

Note that "BRC Start" is offered at 2 levels - Basic, Intermediate.

The respective self-assessment documents are freely downloadable from -

From a very quick look, "Basic"  has removed some of the more contentious/difficult elements of the GFSI-recognised, BRC8 Global Standard. "Intermediate" starts to put some of the latter back.

^^^^ (red) - this will probably require a detailed Gap Analysis. May have to wait for that. Some Start summary info/free copy of Start standard here -
