How to document traceability for oil stored in silos from two suppliers and multiple lots?

All,

As we are growing and our raw ingredients requirments are increasing.

We are going to install silo to receive and store oil. We might store two different lot from vendor in one silo. Even if when it will not be empty we will store third lot number of oil in same silo. Basically it will be over and over.

So, How we can handle documentation for two different lot numbers? How I can make sure traceability for oil?

Thank you.

When I worked with comingled products, we would always create our own lot code (which was changed daily). We kept all COAs for incoming product, and would be able to associate the lot code we created with the time of receipt for incoming product.

We'd then decide how many loads prior and after lot code would need to be held.

For example, the product has lot code 022720 (2/27/20). You could check your records for the past two receipts of oil (perhaps 2/12 and 2/19/20), and the 2 receipts after the lot (3/1/20), and 3/8/20) to ensure you've captured all the possibly comingled product in a recall.  All product packed between 2/12 and 3/8 would be placed on hold.

Hi,

not an easy question and it is not only a question of traceability, but on risk assessment for recalls too. If you unload the next lot into a silo which is not empty (worse case amount?) you will mix up two and afterwards next batches. If you want to calculate the risk based on an assumption (contamination of....with limit...) you can use an equation chemists are using for calculation of efficiency of desitillations (number of stages nesessary to ) you will end up approximately with a number of 6.

i.e. you have to block goods made with material from the last 6 deliveries!!!  (rough calculation dependent on several parameters)
