Can SQF Practitioner/Trainer do Internal Audit ?

Hi Everyone,

I am the SQF Practitioner of a small food manufacturing company who only makes 1 product.

If i do the internal auditing training, can I do the internal audits myself?

Yes. But, the documents you made "your work", best to be audited by someone else. You can audit areas that you do not work in. Train someone on IA since you were trained and have them audit your work (someone from production maybe?), while you audit the rest.

You will need to get training per SQF. I have found it to be helpful then to train and enlist you management team to do some of the audits for you.

We rotate a set of areas between managers, this way each manager learns a bit more about the plant. Yes, some months they check their own depts., but I have found that with the training, they know what to look for and can still do a good job. No one is playing "Got You" games to get the other departments in trouble, they all see it as a way to improve.
