How do you verify and validate the flume contact time for CCP?

Currently our wash processes are timed with either an alarm or a shut off on the wash mechanism. We are looking into moving to flumes for some items but we don't currently have the experience with them to know how well they work or are adjustable to reach our contact time. How do you verify and validate that the contact time is correct according to your CCP? We are looking at small units. 8' and under. Contact time needs to be minimum of 1 minute max of 2 to 5 (there's some wiggle room based on product and how much we can adjust) So how are you managing your flumes? How do you check them? How frequently do you check them? Thanks!
