What types of inspection checks would you recommend at time of receipt for a packaging company?

we're a packaging company that works with shrink wrap, roll stock, as well as netting. We'd like to start an inspection process. Since we're different than food, what types of inspection checks would you recommend at time of receipt?
I would definitely include:
1) Container/truck condition: are there any holes where light is shining through? That would indicate possible water damage
2) Individual box/package condition: are any of them broken? have forklift holes in them? wet? etc.
3) Any foul odor on the truck?
4) Is it an LTL mixed with someone elses shipment?
i would also add a check if you get pre-printed packaging, check against the spec to see if it aligns with what is on the spec.
We use an in-house printed label that attaches to the incoming BOL / Packing List that has INCOMING SHIPMENT INSPECTION and ACCEPTED REJECTED lines at the top. If the shipment is accepted the S&R person receiving it initials on the line next to ACCEPTED etc. if it is rejected they initial there and check the reason code below: Unsafe condition of trailer - Holes or other damage that may cause infestation or other adulteration - Presence of Foul Odors - Evidence of Infestation or Adulteration - Shipped with hazardous chemicals with no mechanical / physical separation - Visible damage or otherwise compromised - Other reason.
Since it is attached to the document the inspection is for, there is no tracing or searching or other logging. BOLs / Packing Lists are all saved for no less than 5 years.

We are a food place so slightly different, however we receive packaging.
We have a stamp we use that says 'odour, pest, hygiene' and it is stamped on the incoming ticket / delivery note, signed and dated.
We've noticed in recent audits that auditors seem to be looking more at our vehicles. We now have to record checks completed PRIOR to loading, POST loading, and POST unloading.

It sounds like yr first necessity is to initiate a QA function headed by someone who is knowledgeable regarding yr Production.
TBH I'm surprised you can produce in the absence of such.
