Hi Julz,

I work for an organic honey processing company and I was looking for literature on whether bee pollen is an allergen on the forum, thats how come i came across your question. Any one to answer my question in here please! LOL!!!

Now coming to your question, I believe you can also use you experience as validation. You can start by taking your finished products to an external Lab for metal detection periodically and monitoring customer complaints relating to your hazard. This could be your validation since you seem unclear whether or not your filter is still intact. You can also be checking and cleaning your filter regularly.

I am currently using filters which i change every after a batch but I still convinced management to buy a MD only this time it helps to control intentional adulteration.

I hope this is helpful...

Yes, maybe, sometimes.

If the question is whether consumers can potentially suffer a reaction to it, then the answer is yes.

If the question is whether you need to label it as an allergen, the answer is that it depends on where you're selling the product, and potentially what the product is.

It's non the EU or US lists.

For Australia/NZ it is also not on the main food allergen list, but it appears that it does need to be labelled for some products sold there - see 1.2.3-3 of FSANZ standard 1.2.3: https://www.legislat...ils/F2017C00418

This only mentions royal jelly, but the guidance does specifically also mention bee pollen: https://www.foodstan... Statements.pdf

2 Thanks

Thank you very much, That does it. I was just looking at the FARRP International regulatory chart and pollen is only mentioned under Australia/NZ. Thanks a lot

Didn't know FARRP had that type of chart.  Very useful, thank you!
