Can we use panibois wooden trays in a wood free factory?
Hi
I have been asked to look at the option of chilled packing in paper inners and recycable panibois wooden trays. Given that these days most factories are wood free, and required to be wood free for BRC etc accreditation, how does one go about using these trays in their production, is it a 100 % no dont go there, or have you managed to find a work around to meet leglislation and customer needs.
Thank you
I don't think Regulators or BRC will say do not use wood in a definitive way . Please look for the exact clause where it has been mentioned. Most of the time they state " If the usage can not be avoided , monitoring activity to look into the integrity of the wood has to take place .
This statement (in part) is incorrect...
"and required to be wood free for BRC etc accreditation"
No, but it must be controlled.
As long as you can confirm that the use would not constitute an issue you will be all set to use these.
You would treat wood like you would with foreign matter contamination, increased inspections, etc.
Thus, get that risk analysis going!
