Internal Audit IS0 9001:2015

Hi. I am looking for some assistance as I have not had any experience with ISO 9001:2015 before. I am getting confused as to the internal audit of this standard. Firstly, I downloaded an audit checklist which covered the requirements for each clause of the standard.

However, after reviewing various site audits from external auditors, some have been reporting on their audit of procedures for each department. Hence why I am now confused as to what I need to do. So I am wondering, as part of an internal audit do I need to complete it in 2 parts - 1. Use the checklist to audit complete compliance to the entire standard? 2. Audit procedures from each department i.e. customer service, dispatch, NPD? Thanks

Most of the requirements of the standards will be built into internal procedures. You will audit against your internal procedures for any of the applicable ISO clauses or other customer or regulatory requirements

Purchasing Audit Checklist for example should reference your internal procedures for purchasing as well as checking against relevant ISO clauses or other applicable customer or regulatory requirements

Does that make sense?
