Suppliers responsibility to supply raw nutrient data for ingredients
Help anyone, I'm currently working with a supplier that refuse to send me the unrounded nutrients for sweets we buy from them. He did supply rounded values per serving of 40g and 100g. In order for me to recalculate my NFP from a mix of 15 to 25 various sweets from numerous suppliers - I was planning to use the raw nutrients in Genesis and make my own recipes to establish our NFP. My question here, is, Does anyone know what is the requirements to ingredients suppliers to give out rounded or unrounded nutrient per 100g? Thanks all.

Not sure about the rule for ingredients however.....the above link are the rules for the NFP so one could assume the same applies

Some general rounding rules to note:
- When the first decimal place beyond the required number of significant figures is less than five, round the final significant figure downward by one unit (e.g. 984.49 rounds down to become 984)
- When the first decimal place beyond the required number of significant figures is five or greater, round the final significant figure upward by one unit (e.g. 984.50 rounds up to become 985)
- For vitamin and mineral nutrients (e.g., sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, thiamin, niacin), rounding of the amount, by weight, must be done before the calculation of the % daily value (% DV) [B.01.401(1.2), B.01.402(2.2) FDR]
- For macronutrients (i.e., fat, fibre, sugars, cholesterol and the sum of saturated and trans fat), the % DV calculation can be done using the rounded or unrounded amount, by weight.
- Although companies may decide to round the amounts, by weight, of macronutrients either before or after the calculation of the % DV, they are also responsible for meeting the Nutrition Labelling Compliance Test.
Thanks Scampi, not really what I'm looking for - I need something that would obligate my supplier to issue nutrients per 100g in an unrounded values so I can calculate my own NV.

Also, I'm receiving my various sweets world wide: Canada USA, Spain, South America.... therefore rounding rules varies from one country to another.
Then you need to tell you're suppliers that loads will be refused unless they comply with your request and CoA's need to arrive prior to the shipment.
For the U.S. suppliers, there isn't anything that says they have to provide you with unrounded 100g information. Basically it boils down to whether they want to maintain your business. You can always say that you will have to source from someone else if they aren't going to provide the data.

if you buy ingredients in bulk B2B the supplier provide some informations in the specifications. The information you will receive will be dependent on the contract and/or quality assurance agreement too.
According to my experience in most cases supplier of bulk ingredients will use numbers from data bases which fit "more or less".
Finally it is your turn to calculated according to your recipe or to use an analytical approach.

Thanks sqflady, but we are a very small company and are buying close to 50 different products from this one supplier. Most are sold "as is" but we also do mixes with sweets from various suppliers. It would be much easier to get those nutrients from the supplier.
As per SQF ed 9.0 section 2.3.2.9 regarding finished product specification shall be documented and approuved by customer regarding labelling and other factors. This supplier does not comply to this section.
If the supplier won't comply (and they simply do not have to) you can
A) find another vendor
B) put an risk assessment in your plan and cross your fingers
C) change YOUR specification requirements
