Supplier document for non food grade chemicals
Hi, for receiving new non food grade chemicals from new supplier, what is the requirement for approving the supplier? For BRC 8, I only find the information for food contact chemicals or package. Thank you for sharing any idea.
Dear Irwu,
Source your non-food chemicals from a supplier with whom you have a supplier agreement. Obtain and review the specifications for non-food chemicals - for example, details on conditions of use including what it can be used on, the concentration for use (dilution with water), temperature of use, duration of application, rinsing , and recommendations for handling & storing. Along with the COA ask for a letter of guarantee that the product is safe, suitable for use and meets your specifications. The letter should contain the following information:
- name of the supplier
- date of issuance
- description of the product
- brand name or code number
- a statement that the non-food chemical is safe and suitable for the intended use
- signature of the supplier
This should suffice for non food chemicals.
For this type of suppliers, I usually request LOG, SDS (safety data sheet) and TDS (technical data sheet) - that's pretty sufficient.
