oPRP's in snackfood company

Hi all, this oPRP topic seems very confusing as the concept changes slightly depending on where you are reading and decision tree you are using. I have a HACCP plan review to complete and oPRP has only been included on last year's review (not by me). However I am having second thoughts about it, and would like some clarification. The product is potato chips and the hazard is allergen cross-contamination from previous flavor. The oPRP in the plan is ATP swabs to verify the cleanliness of the line (if line is clean, it is clean from chemical or allergens), control limit 2.4. The reason for my second thoughts are: ATP is not a step in the manufacturing process. ATP is part of the Sanitation Program, what is a PRP. Allergens are controlled under the Allergen Management Program, what again a PRP. I believe this has been included on a rush for audit compliance, but we will eventually be picked up on audits for this. Any thoughts about this? Not sure how to move from this to "finding" a new oPRP. Thanks, C.

Hi ccarmin,

Yr intuition is correct.

I presume yr FSSC22000(PRP) program is aligned to iso22002-1.

Allergen control is covered in Section 10.

Afaik the only exception might be if allergenic contamination factors are specifically referenced  within Regulatory aspects of the Organisation having jurisdiction over yr Process, eg (local) FDA requires a CCP, OPRP, whatever.
