How do your companies label pallets of ingredients that contain allergens?
Hi all, how do your companies label pallets of ingredients that contain allergens? For example we have pallets of unopened ingredients in 50# bags or buckets. We place allergen stickers on front and back of pallet. Any other additional ideas? Thank you.
If you can also dedicate allergen storage zone---even if it is 1 specific row or skid spot and mark the racking with bright tags
Upon arrival we tape an 8.5x11 laminated piece of paper with big letters indicating the allergen category (wheat/dairy/...) with equally large letters with the word ALLERGEN. We use the same color for the lettering as we use for all allergen items such as scoops etc.. This way the allergen and type of allergen can be seen far away. Inexpensive and reusable. Customer and auditor liked it. We try to co-locate allergens.
Thank you Scampi and Harminnie!
I agree.
We apply labelling (yellow re-usuable/laminated A4-cards on each pallets -> if they are moved) and separate storage zones (rows with same laminated A4-cards fixed at the wall)
We as a bakery have some allergens in each product per plant -> no labelling necessary for these in the plant. Some other are excluded per plant per general decision. Finally some are left to be handled as allergens (incl. the rework).
