ATP testing for hygiene monitoring and protein swabs

ATP testing for hygiene monitoring and protein swabs which company is recommended? Hygenia or r-Biopharm ? 

I haven't used r-Biopharm so can't comment on them but can certainly recommend Hygiena for ATP swabbing, device and software are user friendly and I've always had good support from Hygiena

I've also only used Hygiena, but I do recommend them.  The devices are easy to use and our sales rep is always available to answer questions.

Also, if you are big enough, Hygiena will loan you a device and give you swabs so you can determine whether or not you want to purchase your own.  My company's original device was a loaner that was given to one of our customers, who gave it to us.

We use Hygiena Luminometers and I am working on the SOP for the ATP program and have a little hiccup with the calibration.

I know that Hygiena provides Calibrations Kits for their luminometers, but our team wants to use an unused new rod and insert it into the luminometer to verify the calibration, assuming that the reading will be 0 RLU.

I haven't tried this before and I am not sure if there is any reference for this method, it feels like it is relying more on "common sense" and I just want to have another opinion before we proceed with this.

The control check is a two part process, "negative" and "positive". The unused swab may qualify as a negative control, however you would still need to verify that luminometer is working properly with a positive control, in this case of a known measurable reference of luminous material or LED.

So if we want to do this properly, we would have to buy the Positive Control Kit, and use the "common sense" unused swab to act as the negative control kit, correct?

When I used Hygiena the control kit contained both positive and negative rods. Now I believe the two are integrated into one;

Yea, I think I have seen 2 documents for calibration by Hygiena, one called CalCheck and the other called Calibration Control Kit, but I didn't quite understand the difference.

A note about the Hygiena Calibration Kits: They will initially look quite expensive, but they have a shelf life of 5 years.

i have also used charm in the past as well.  no issues.    i know someone using the 3M system - they really like it.
