Nutraceuticals - Microbiological-heavy metal analysis

Chris

We are a small ISO 9001 certified nutraceutical company in the UK and I am looking at implementing a sampling regime for all of our products (in the 100s). I thought that the VACCP may be the best way forward and to perform it for each of our suppliers instead of each product. Would this be sufficient or is there any other method you would recommend?

Also, could I ask where you got the information for the guidance notes from?

Hi Jack,

Apologies for the delay, I've recently been "un-furloughed" and still catching up on emails since March.  The information for the guidance notes is as Charles.C said "borrowed" from the USP text on Food Fraud

What may I ask are you sampling for?

Hi Chris,

No problem, accept my apologies too!

I would like to perform microbiological and analytical testing (mostly heavy metals). However, there is no sample plan in place and would like to take a risk-based approach.

I will also be keeping retain samples for each batch of all incoming goods.

Any guidance would be hugely appreciated! Feeling very overwhelmed.

Jack
