Manufacturing food and non food products on the same line

Good morning Team, I am setting up my facility to run RTD tea and we just received a business opportunity to manufacturing Shampoos and other beauty products. So I have the concern is there is any regulation that prohibit use the same equipment's, fillers, capping machines, hoses systems to run ready to drink beverages and non food products (beauty products). Thank You. I have to ask-----you think this is a good idea? Do you have any idea what is in these products?  They are not for consumption

FDA can use its mandatory recall authority when FDA determines that there is a reasonable probability that an article of food is adulterated under section 402 of the FD&C Act and/or misbranded under section 403(w) of the FD&C Act and where there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to such food would cause SAHCODHA.

Basically this is the law- your "food" would be considered adulterated and therefor a recall would have to occur

This is why there are laws

You didn't ask if you should, you asked if there was a law preventing you

I can't even imagine taking such a chance. The only section under part 117 is this;

Sec. 117.40 Equipment and utensils

(2) Equipment and utensils must be designed, constructed, and used appropriately to avoid the adulteration of food with lubricants, fuel, metal fragments, contaminated water, or any other contaminants.

I would contact your regional CSO and run this by them first.

Yes, it's called common sense 101.

Thank you all for you comments and advises

That’s gonna be a no from me dog. You ever had soap flavored tea? Yuck!
