Supplier Allergen Statement Expiry

I had an auditor ask for an updated allergen statement as he felt ours had expired and he told me they have a 5 year lifespan. I know this is the case with SDS' (5 year lifespan) but I cannot find any info on the expiry of an allergen statement from a lubricant supplier anywhere. My understanding was they remain current unless a new allergen is discovered or something changes at the suppliers end.

Would appreciate some feed back.

In theory, the question of expiry needs to be asked of the party by whom the allergen statement was issued, since they are the ones who are in a position to determine this.

Nonetheless I'd be asking questions about one that was five years old - the allergens might not have changed, but that doesn't necessarily mean that your supplier has remembered to tell you about any changes to their product over this period.

Some standards expect data on specs, suppliers etc to be reviewed every three years - this doesn't implicitly mean that it has to be updated or that "new" documents are required, but even a "we can confirm that the previous document is still valid" email does at least show that it is valid, rather than simply having been overlooked / forgotten ;)

You should be sending an email annually to all your suppliers to at least attest that nothing in the formula has changed OR a letter from them that is "a letter of continuing guarantee"  that has language like "until we notify you" or "the lifespan of the product" or similar

i guess they have a point in that things need to be updated / reviewed

However, in this case - show me one commercially available food grade lubricant that does contain allergenic material.   I have never seen one.

Yes, but not all maintenance chemicals Are or Need to be food grade

No one is lubricating bearing in a fork lift with food grade grease
