Is there a re-certification grace period for BRC? 

Your recertification audit needs to fall within the window shown on your certificate - otherwise you risk picking up an NC for management commitment failure.
If you have specific extenuating circumstances then talk through the specifics with your certification body, as they'll be able to advice whether they think a concession would be possible.
