How to ensure no glass particles are in the jar for a small processor?
Hello,
Wanted to get some input on a process for ensuring there is no loose glass particles in a glass jar for marinara processing.
Looking for ideas focused toward a very small processor, as we are just getting started with this project.
Is there a way to ensure the glass integrity without automation? Possibly, Visual inspection? Vacuum? Wand?
If it helps, we are audited against PRIMUS.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Is this glass breaking off from the jar you're filling at the time, or glass fragments in general?
One typical approach would be a wash/inversion prior to filling - this is automated when done on a large scale, but if your quantities are very small then it might be feasible to do it manually - it's certainly possible to buy very small manual systems where you physically turn the jar upside down and place it over a wash nozzle.
Another one uses a hand held high pressure wand.
