Post harvest techniques to improve the quality and shelf life of fresh fruit
Hi all,
I 'm from Viet Nam and I am working in fresh fruit food company.
We are planting and exporting banana and cantaloupe, However, in the future we would like to introduce our tropical fruits for the global market.
I join in this forum to discuss about the post harvest technique to improve the quality and shelf life for fresh fruit.
would you mind to share your knowledge and experiment with me?
Thanks in advance.

Hi HangNguyen,
Welcome to the Forum ! :welcome:
Not my area but other members may be able to assist.
clean the debris off as close to post harvest as possible, using water similar in temperature to the fruit------------this is to prevent bacteria from entering the flesh of the fruit from stem end
Then flume the fruit in chilled water (new clean water) treated with PAA or similar
DRY and store in 7C - 3 C coolers maintain cold chain during shipment
there are commercially available products that you could add to the flume water, allegedly they will extend shelf life by weeks, not days but weeks
