Allergen Declaration in Restaurants and takeaways

Hi guys

I want to use your experience and thoughts about allergen declaration in restaurants and takeaways.

The business I work for is a restaurants group, that sells Asian food in 3 countries.

In Irish branches, QR code is available and by scanning this code, customer can see the allergen sheet.

But legally, allergen declaration must be written,  easy to access for customer without asking question

and QR code doesn't provide all these features. Because of supply chain issues, we can not provide ingredients with same brand all the time and allergen has changed from purchase to purchase by changing the brand of ingredients.

For avoiding from mistake (because there are more than 35 restaurants and most of the time they do not like to print the updated allergen sheet and place it on counter :yeahrite: ) we choose QR code to make it possible for customer to access to last update of allergen sheet.

For replacing QR code with something else, I think about screen for displaying the allergen information of menu and if I find any application of software to put allergen information in the bottom of invoices

please help me by your experience and ideas.

putting allergen info on the invoice is like closing the gate after the horses are out

I would list allergens beside each menu item (even the ones that MAY have allergens due to varying suppliers)  You could even use pictograms with an explanation on the back

For folks without allergens, it won't make any difference, for people with allergies, it will be clear without them having to ask

I'm sure that legally, the fact that you change suppliers often will not be sufficient reasoning should you find yourselves with someone having a reaction from eating your food because the declaration wasn't correct

I was in a think tank group sone years ago and this subject was brought up.

It was finally determined to use a lighted screen to let everyone know what allergens were presenr and then on the menu a small box listing ingredient, allergens etc and on take out packages the labels are also applied.
