Do we need dedicated equipment for cleaning non-product areas?

Hi!

We have a room as enclosed product area. In the corner of this room is barrier+bench segregated non-product area, and from that area there is a door to the open high-care area. Shoes are left on the enclosed product area, after bench you step on the high-care boots. There is no other cleaning method for the boots when entering high-care area. Now we wonder if we could use same floor cleaning equipment for the enclosed product area and the non-product area, or do we need cleaning equipments which are used only at that non-product area? I would use own equipment, but need to ask here to get more proof for this point of view.

Hi

So in our factory, each area has their own cleaning equipment, colour coded for each section, colour coded hair nets as well

Example:

Stores & Transport- Blue

Manufacturing- Yellow

Packing- Green

Cleaners- Red

Lab staff- white

Visitors - Orange

Outside- Black

Product contact- Violet

This allows for no cross contamination whether its the floors or equipment. Hope this helps

thanks

are you high risk and high care?

are you high risk and high care?

For my understanding, this non-product area could not be classified as high-care area. It is just non-product area to change clothes between enclosed product and high-care area.

Thank you for your reply! This confirms the idea that we should have own cleaning equipment for the non-product area floor between enclosed product and open high-care areas to prevent contamination crossing from enclosed product area to open high-care area

Hi Pipsa,

The actual product/process flow is unclear.

Necessity for (a) barrier segregation, (b) use of independent utensils/cleaning systems is a  question of risk assessment/prevention-minimisation of contamination, eg a low risk product transitioning across a "barrier" to a high risk one typically involves (a,b).
