Environmental Monitoring Swabs for Drains
Hi All,
I am looking for some insight into our Environmental Monitoring program. We are a very low risk product and currently do only monthly swabbing. We do Zones 1-5 and one of our swabs is a drain that goes off of a boiler relief discharge. It is the only drain swab that we have in our program because we do not put anything down our drain since the nature of the product we deal with would clog our drains.
So I am wondering if we even need to have this drain swab in our program because it is located in our utility room and has nothing to do with the product we work with?
Any insight on this would be very much appreciated!
Thank you,
Chris
You don't have a wet sanitation program at all?
What's the traffic pattern like into and out of that room?
If this drain has no relation to your production - I don't think you should worry: it's like toilet drains, you wouldn't swab them, would you? From my experience - I was never asked why I'm not swabbing this kind of drains.
Hi All,
Thank you for the feedback. We do wet sanitation by mopping the floor but because of the product we do not put anything down the drain. This drain in particular has nothing to do with production and is coming right off a boiler discharge. Where this drain is at there is little to no foot traffic.
I agree olenazh about the toilet drain and those are the same lines I was thinking on.
Thank you everyone for the input!
