Internal Audit- Auditees
Hello everyone!
I came to my current facility this year after their first SQF audit 9.0 edition food manufacturing.
They successfully passed but received a minor on the internal auditing portion. They had no internal audits, formally.
Since tthen I created an internal auditing procedure broken into the 4 quarters of the year, each breaking up the SQF code and auditing against the checklist.
Should I train the management team on a brief internal auditing procedure so that I may have 1 person join me on each audit?
Would love feedback.. Thanks in advance!
I am SQF Backup Practitioner and Internal auditor certified.
Hey Lavaliente,
I took an internal auditing program with NSF awhile back and then used the materials from it to train the team on expectations for that portion of the code. I didn't push it out to the whole company, only the food safety team. When we conduct audits, we usually take a couple people along so that nothing gets missed. Then we compare notes and whomever is senior signs of on the audit. Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Hi lavaliente,
if you have been trained by certified professional and having experience in doing the Internal Audit, then definitely, you can train your management team to get help on internal Audits and anyhow, you need another person to Audit your work as you can not Audit yourself.
So its good to have them in internal Audit team.
Thanks
Thanks @namishka and @Brendan!!
It wouldn't be a bad idea to check this thread as well since it speaks on proper training and certifications. It seemed like it really applied to what you are reviewing.
