Labelling Requirements for Export into UK
Hi,
We are looking to export honey into the UK from Au. Could someone please direct me to the labelling requirements? Are there any more unusual requirements that the UK requires?
Thank you.
Most UK labelling requirements are still derived from EU regulation, so if you're already exporting to the EU you'll be most of the way there. If not, the primary regulation to look at is 1169/2011.
FoodDrinkEurope has a reasonable guidance document too: https://www.fooddrin...n-to-consumers/
The Food Standards Agency also has a summary here: https://www.food.gov...g-and-labelling
This includes the post-Brexit change in requirements that means the label must show the name of the responsible food business (UK manufacturer or importer) with an address in the UK - we're currently in a transition stage that ends in September, so as of 1st October it would need to be your UK importer/agent's details shown on the label.
Honey is one of the products for which there are also specific compositional requirements that may impact labelling. Have a look at:
The Honey (England) Regulations 2015 - https://www.legislat.../2015/1348/made
Directive 2001/110/EC - https://eur-lex.euro...ELEX:32001L0110
Directive 2014/63/EU - https://eur-lex.euro...elex:32014L0063
I am not familiar with the EU requirements so this is so helpful. Thank you!
