Thank you, Tony-C.
For those of you who are daunted by the new standards and inevitable misery and stress that will follow, I can highly recommend sitting in a corner and gently rocking back-and-forth whilst quietly crying :happydance:

Dumb question, but just wondering if there's an easy and efficient way to work on the transition from Issue 8 to Issue 9? (I've already got all the documents - just trying to figure out how to plan and work on the changes). It's my first transition :helpplease:
Please help. Thanks.

Might be worth buying a copy of the Guide to Key Changes document: https://www.brcgs.co...hanges/p-12230/
You can make it yourself if you want to go through and compare both Issue 8 and Issue 9 in detail, but this does it for you ;)
Broadly it highlights new/revised areas in the new issue, so it's very easy to identify the "gaps" that you'll need to address.
Is anyone else have trouble printing out the new standard that is downloadable from the BRC participate site?

May be it's better to pin this topic instead of BRC 8 topic.
Best regards.

The free versione is password protected against printing. Maybe this helps?

So meaning, if I want to print I need to buy the pdf format even though already registered as BRC participate site?

Facing the same issue also.

Yes, you'll need to buy the printed version instead of the digital version, even if you're registered as BRC participated.
But google is very friendly...
Thank you Tony for sharing the checklist. We are having a training for the conversion course (issue 8 to issue 9) at the moment and the trainer mentioned we cannot and should not use the Self-Assessment checklist for Issue 9 as a checklist for our Internal Audit. For that, I wonder if you or anyone in this FSQ community has any recommendations and or a checklist we can use instead.
Greatly appreciated!
HT
& This is what was stated in the document.
"While we hope that this tool is useful in helping you prepare for your audit it should not be considered as evidence of an internal audit and will not be accepted by auditors during an audit."

Hi Hien,
Few Comments -
(1) Internal Audits are often, eventually, oriented to the Product/Process.
(2) BRC internal audit is presumably obliged to satisfy the content of Clauses like 3.4/Ver 8. Suggestions/templates are illustrated in previous threads on this Forum.
(3) The tool referred "as is" is useful as a (detailed) Guideline. It is also readily "adjusted/expanded". IIRC Excel versions for previous Versions exist on this Forum.
(4) BRC do offer a separate Publication to assist "internal Audit" but IIRC it is interesting/includes examples but not directly usable "as is" (Surprise, Surprise !).
(5) The BRC Interpretation Guidelines are somewhat informative.

Hi Hien,
Audits are intended to be spread throughout the year and cover:
HACCP or food safety plan, including the activities to implement it (e.g. supplier approval, corrective actions and verification)
Prerequisite programmes (e.g. hygiene, pest management)
Food defence and food fraud prevention plans
Procedures implemented to achieve the Standard
You could consider taking the Site Self-Assessment Tool, dividing it up and adapting it to generate audit templates.
Also, you will find looking at BRCGS Guidelines useful, for example: Interpretation 3.4.3 Internal audit records and corrective actions
In addition to the actual internal audit, it is important that appropriate reports are completed, clearly indicating what was audited, the actions that are agreed and the review of these actions.
Reports must show evidence of conformity as well as non-conformity, with objective supporting evidence (e.g. what documents or actions were observed). Some sites have also found it useful to include recommendations for improvement, where the audit can highlight any that are noted during the audit.
Tick lists showing that items have been assessed will not normally be accepted as the only form of evidence; information showing how the audited items have fulfilled the requirements, or how they are non-compliant, is required. ………….
Notes, references or copies of the documents and records should be kept as evidence of aspects that have been examined, to allow an independent reviewer to reach the same conclusion as the internal auditor. For example, the dates and titles of records that were inspected should be noted in sufficient detail to allow them to be traced; if any records are non-compliant, precise details of the non-compliance should be given. The listing of records reviewed also ensures that a wide range of records are considered ………
The Standard is not prescriptive regarding the format of the internal audit reports; for example, they may be hand-written, stand-alone electronic documents or uploaded into a company database. Good practice is to retain any auditor notes that are completed during the audit, as well as the final report.
Attached is an example of an audit report given in Issue 9 Guidance:

Thank you Charles, well spotted
Looks like there was a minor typyo in clause 6.2.3 in the original and BRCGS corrected that but set the corrected version up with a new url.

Thanks again Tony for sharing the checklist. During the BRC version 9 conversion training we received, the trainer informed us that this checklist cannot be used to conduct an internal audit. If that is the case, I wonder if there's a form/template out there that we can use instead. Please advise when you have a moment. Thank you.
FYI - our facilities have been using template similar like this for many years for internal auditing. This to ensure we cover all aspects/requirements from the standards.
Best Regards,
HT
