Sous vide and pregnancy

I have read about sous vide and how it can pasturise food, but I am not an expert. I will ask my GP as well, but from your understanding of the process (cooking at a low/specific temperature for hours), could I then eat "medium rare" red meat? Most pregnancy guides would say no to eating medium rare/food that is not cooked to 70*C. What do you think?

Hi superhotpotato,

Slow cooked foods are tastier as it preserves most natural flavors and feelings but riskier, particularly meat and others.

Vulnerable persons should restrain from taking that risk. Better suppress that crave for time being.

I personally would never sous vide a beautiful cut of steak

There is no risk to eating medium rare red meat ( ground EXCLUDED) that reaches a surface temp of 70C

Ground red meat needs to be fully cooked (70C throughout)

I would not risk sous vide anything during pregnancy
