I have both water softening salt pellets and ice melt pellets (MN) and both are current not locked up, they are sitting in our warehouse.

Should they be locked up??? one or both?

Thanks!

USDA or FDA, or 3rd party audit scheme at the facility you work at?

Are salts or other ingredients stored in the same warehouse?  What kind of segregation? Are they labeled VERY clearly?

Like anything else with potential misuse for food defense/security there are practical limits.  If the material is adequately segregated and identified, and your team members are trained to monitor for bad actors I wouldn't be overtly concerned.

Do these pellets have MSDS datasheets that suggest they pose any relevant and/or significant risks?

Do they (or the packaging) look so similar they could accidentally be switched?

How are they labelled?

Are they stored in a separate area away from ingredients and final product?
