Supersack-Bulk Bag Resealing

Hello fellow food experts, 

We operate a small feed mill, and use small quantities of goods from multiple 2000 lb. supersacks. Our previous supplier used duffle top bags, which made it very easy to scoop from the bags and left them able to be re-tied. Now, the bags come with a spout top, meaning that the opening to scoop product out went from the entire top of the bag, to a dinner plate sized hole. Recently, they have been cutting the top of the bag off to make it easier to scoop - but cannot tie the bag back shut tightly. Do they make a product that can be used to close a bag of this type between frequent use? Amounts used are often to small to use the bulk bags in the traditional way.  Other ideas?

A quick search showed nothing.  In all likelihood, you're best bet is to decant into manageable sizes (reusable totes perhaps) otherwise you'll have foreign material to contend with as the supersak breaks down and creates threads over time

Agreed! I've seen where supersack systems are down and foreign material would occur from people cutting the bags. 

You should ask them to go back to the other bags if possible or potentially look into receiving in 50# bags and debagging into a secondary container as Scampi suggested.
