Requirements for Food Beverages Manufacturing Scales

I hope all is well to those that read.

I had a question regarding tote scales in a plant-based beverage manufacturing facility. We are intending to pack an ingredient version of our product into an 1000kg capable 'Bag in a Box'. Does a scale that's used in a food manufacturing facility require some form of Canada Measurement approval, legal for trade certification or OIML Certificaiton? This scale will also be used for ready to eat product (beverage). I had originally thought that it would merely require annual calibration/validation, but the more I looked into the compliance qualities to some of the scales out there, I have become more aware. 

I've been asked to source a scale but admit that I am taking a more cautious approach to what we end up buying, as to avoid returns, contracted certification etc. My colleagues have sent me links for Pallet Jack Scales, but I am hesitant, as I am unsure of the quality of their accuracy or certifiability, if necessary. 

If relevant, we will be producing in Canada, but aspiring to export as well. We will be pursuing BRC standards.

Are these for BIB (bag in box) for direct sale, or do they fit below?

 

 

Measuring devices used only for batching (i.e. to determine the quantity of ingredients in mixed products) or for internal activities such as inventory control are not considered as being used in trade and are therefore exempt from the requirements of the Weights and Measures Act.

If these are being sold into commerce it is likely the weights and measures act would be applicable.

Thank-you for your response! I appreciate it.

These BIBs will be sold to a client for further processing. The scale will be used for this 'intermediate' product, as well as our finished product, which is a plant-based beverage or 'dairy alternative' and is a ready-to-eat product. That being said, and from a quick peak at your provided link, we may be subject for annual inspection of the scale we choose (?).

Does this scale require any kind of certification or just be made 'legal for trade'?
