Product risk assessments
Hello
Wondering if somebody could help me. We are BRC AA agents and brokers and everything works how it should to.
I am looking to improve our risk assessments for products, as we currently have over 1000 specs and 50 suppliers; we have separate risk assessment for each of them.
Does anybody have any idea how could i simplify this, maybe risk assess groups of products ?
Never had any auditor issues with taking a grouping approach to this - you just need to make sure your groupings are reasonable, e.g. if you buy cartons of UHT milk and tankers of fresh milk, putting them into the same "milk" grouping might not be sensible, whereas e.g. buying UHT milk from a BRC certified processor in France and an FSSC22000 certified processor in Germany is likely to be more viable.

Hi DSTM,
Unfortunately a specific, meaningful, answer may depend on what the Products are and perhaps how you assess "Risk"..
BRC afaik typically groups Finished Products as High Risk, High Care, Low Risk (ie based on Manufacturing Process).
It also categorises Suppliers as Low / (Not Low) Risk.
But may be easier/more useful to Group based on Product Type. It all "depends".
Hi DSTechnicalManager,
Why don’t you put them into groups as per BRCGS Food Appendix 6 Product categories – Product Examples.
Kind regards,
Tony
