Minimum power of a magnet to be considered compliant with the food safety requirements?

Hello,

 

Do you know what’s the minimum power of a magnet to be considered compliant with the food safety requirements?

 

I heard that it should be at least 11000 Gauss but this is based on what?

There is some regulations? FDA rules? Or others to give a limit?

The EU doesn't have a specific standard on this, at least to the best of my knowledge. It's likely going to be something you will have to determine based on the application. You could try talking it through with some magnet suppliers to get their suggestions?

FWIW I've definitely seen 10000 Gauss magnets in use within Europe, albeit not as CCPs.

As per Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Magnet strength shall be ~1000 gauss.

Thanks yr input however the stated magnet strength of 1000 G seems low. For example compare =

 

Gauss power of the magnet
The iron particles that get separated from the sample increased with the increasing power of the magnet. The value obtained with the magnet of 5000 G was about 80 per cent more than that obtained with 2000 G magnet. Likewise, with 12000 G, it was about 40 per cent more than that obtained with the 5000 G magnet.
