May contain in suppliers product
Hi all,
We use products from suppliers that state, for example, 'may contain celery', however, we do not have / use celery on our site or in our products - do we need to include the 'may contain' on our finished product labelling and specs?
I have been finding very mixed answers.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
**celery is just an example
a may contain statement holds no legal foundation and it's use is NOT encouraged by regulatory bodies (it is assumed that there is a lack of process control when used)
you're not obligated to apply a may contains statement to your product
Perhaps finding an alternative supplier is a good idea though---------they don't sound like they are doing everything in their power to limit cross contamination in their finished goods
A good start would be a conversation with your vendor to understand why and how they are applying the PAL.
I would err on the side of caution, though. This story comes to mind: https://allergenbure...-allergy-death/
