Equipment with No Safe For Food Contact Document

Hi there,

Our company recently purchased plastic measuring jug, but when we asked supplier on Safe Food Contact related documents, they are unable to revert to us. We even requested for them to write us an email or letter to declare that it's safe for food contact, they could not do this either. The material as we see at the bottom of the jug is PP (polypropylene). Any suggestion of alternative way on how to rectify this issue?

Polypropylene is an FDA-approved food contact plastic.

Polypropylene is an FDA-approved food contact plastic.

That means, if the auditor challenge to prove that PP is safe for food contact, is there any reference that i can look into?

There are numerous references on the internet. Just run a search for the material.

Yes, i did some searching just now. If we use the material from various website, that will be no issue right?

Hi,

Can you buy a  Stainless Steel jugs?

:)

I would buy something that comes with a certificate.

Buy some new jugs from a vendor who will provide a specification and a LoG that the material is food safe under your country's regulations.  If a vendor is unwilling to provide such a LoG or other specifications, you cannot hold them accountable that the jug is made of what they claim and fraud cannot be ruled out.

We either purchase material with food grade certificate or get tested the material at FSSAI approved lab as per the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018
