Validation of Metal Detector Test Piece Sizes
Good Afternoon Everyone
I know that there have been numerous topics posted regarding the Validation of the test piece sizes chosen for the verifications conducted on the metal detectors; however, my question is, do you really have to do a Validation Study annually? I understand conducting a calibration annually but the validation study should stay the same unless, you change metal detectors to a different make or model, if you change pack sizes passed through the metal detector or you change the product type going through the metal detector (e.g. now wanting to pass a paste through instead of just powdered products with low Aw).
Am I correct in saying that?
We are going to be doing our FSSC audit in 2 months time, so I want to ensure that I am correct in my understanding of a validation study and I don't run into a problem here.
Kind Regards
Leigh
Validation is only required when there is a process/product/equipment change (just like any CCP validation)
HOWEVER, you do need to reassess the MD annually, by reviewing and trending the data as part of your haccp plan reassessment
Many thanks, I appreciate the confirmation.
Have a good day.
Kind Regards
Leigh
