Use of Bacteria Concentrate to Clean Grease Trap
Hi Everyone.
Has anyone ever used a bacteria based cleaner to break down fats in a grease trap? Like this one: https://www.envirozy...0-b-20x-nf/e209
The cleaner supplier says it contains non-pathogenic bacteria but I am concerned about the bacteria spreading to the rest of the factory and causing contamination that can result in food spoilage.
Any experience or expertise re this type of cleaner would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Daft question... caustic products work really well on fats and they're cheap, why would you want to use something else?
I agree with GMO, why introduce bacteria when chemical options are easier?
I double checked and Ecolab has offices/distribution in Trinidad & Tobago.
They could recommend a product for your process, but something like this will work.
I agree with GMO as well, Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide) is very effective at removing fat and is ‘cheap as chips’.
Kind regards,
Tony

Lol....
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
The company wanted a degreaser that would reduce the frequency of cleaning of their grease trap hence their reason for considering a biological approach.
I have passed on the suggestion for caustic and Ecolab to them.
Many thanks!
No problem. I very much doubt the frequency of clean would be reduced with the bacterial option though. Just regular cleaning with caustic and it'll work a treat.
