Request for locker & hand phone use policy in production area
Hi al,
I would appreciate if you guys might to share policy that i mentioned above, thanks in advance
Lockers are assigned to employees by QA or Supervisor (DO NOT take a locker unless it is assigned to you).
Locker inspections are conducted on a monthly basis of employees lockers to ensure that the level of cleanliness required for a food plant is met.
Quality Assurance inspects the lockers to ensure they are clean, there is no food, drinks or glass being stored. Employees can also not store uniforms, plant issued binders, tools, toolboxes, etc. in the lockers. Employees are responsible to keep their own locker clean on a weekly basis, they will be emptied and cleaned annually. Footwear must also be kept clean prior to storing.
Cell phones can only be used in the smoking area, lunchroom and washroom if they are contained in a protective case. Only authorized cell phones are permitted in the production facility. They must be company issued and/or approved by Management.
Absolutely no headphones/ear buds are permitted in the production, packaging or storage areas. E-cigarettes must also be contained and are prohibited from the lunchroom and all areas of production. The smoking area, lunchroom, locker room and production rooms are glass free with the exception of lights and accessories on machines. Quality Assurance does a monthly inventory of glass & hard plastics that is in the production facility (i.e. glass light bulbs, flood lights, computer screens), with the exception of what is listed on the Pre-Operational Checklists that are completed by the Operators each shift.
Setanta has it pretty spot on. I'm a hard no on electronics use, and I'd only add to Setanta's point about lockers that employees should be prohibited from storing personal items of any kind in a locker in the production area. Lockers can be provided in your breakroom areas for employee use, but none of those personal items should be stored in a food handling area. If OP is in the US, this is not only a GFSI requirement but backed by CFR's in the FDA's GMP guidelines.
